Big Trouble for Big Brother

I don’t like Big Brother. If I want to watch a bunch of people behaving badly, I’ll go hang out with the drunks in my alley.  And it’s so boring. To an outside observer, my life would appear incredibly dull, with occasional nudity. I accept this as a condition of my existence. To the producers of Big Brother, the inanity [...]

Worst. Punching Bag. Ever.

A Cincinnati family discovered their new TKO punching bag was filled with underwear. Yes, that’s right. Not sand or pellets or water. Underwear. Some of it used. TKO called the bag/hamper a ‘quality control error’ and is replacing the unit. That, my friend, is the most colossal quality control failure in the history of quality control. [...]

New Star Wars film?

Drooling fanboys and awkward middle-aged men are buzzing about the possibility of a new Star Wars flick to be announced on the 30th anniversary of the first movie. Hat tip to Metafilter for this one. Amazing footage of a three-way battle royale between a herd of buffalo, a bunch of lions, and a crocodile. Apparently, massed hooves and bad attitudes trump pointy teeth and claws.

A Hammerhead Jesus?

Maybe. BBC reports that a hammerhead shark at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Nebraska had a virgin birth. No word yet on a shark Judas. In other news, male sharks fear increasing redundancy, plan to step up random eating of surfers.

The war over $100 dollar laptops

Nicholas Negroponte, MIT professor and founder of the One Laptop Per Child program, is accusing Intel of forcing his initiative to provide cheap computers to school children in the developing world off the rails. Negroponte says Intel is selling its own cut-rate laptop, the Classmate, below cost to drive OLPC out of their target markets. [...]
