Thanks for the comment. I agree with you that Churchill’s scholarship is sub-par. But I think the point I was making is that all the controversey surrounding him makes it unlikely his scholarship alone was the reason for his termination. You and I both disagree with him, but that’s not enough reason for him to be fired. It sends a chilling message to other faculty members (with solid scholarly records) who also hold controversial views.
