Reason #46,578 why Iron Maiden rocks: custom tour jet

20080317_iron02.jpg

Man, I love Iron Maiden. In addition to recording some of the most gleefully cheesy and hard-rockin’ songs of recent memory, beyond their 14 album-and-28-year career, they also travel the globe in a custom painted 757. Piloted by their lead singer. No kidding, Bruce Dickinson is a bona-fide pilot. Talk about a frontman.

Check out BlogTO for more photos of ‘Ed Force One’ (named after the band’s mascot, Eddie the Head). Also check out photog Tom Podolec for some pretty rockin’ aircraft shots.

And, because it totally kicks ass, watch the video for “Number of the Beast”.

the war on idiocy
And you’re telling me this isn’t a recession?

Here’s a sad lesson: if you ever really want to know what’s going on in the USA, watch UK news.

Here’s an absolutely crushing news piece that aired on the BBC:

Yes, that’s right. Tent cities, latter-day Hoovervilles, are back. Never read The Grapes of Wrath? Well, now you won’t have to. Just go drive around America for a while. That should give you a pretty good flavour.

And yet, the clowns in charge still swear up and down the USA isn’t in recession. Ridiculous. But don’t worry folks, Dubya is sending everyone a cheque for $600. Totally useless if you’re on the verge of losing your house, but totally awesome if you live in a tent. That kind of cash will buy a lot of ice for your cooler. Just hope the mailman knows where to find you.
