Speak out on the culture cuts
by graeme
The nice thing about being an artist looking down the barrel of $60 million in arts cuts is you usually have the tools to say something about it.
And, if you have something to say about the Harper government’s cuts to culture, the nice folks at the Department of Culture (not a government department, just a cheeky name) have provided a handy outlet. They’ve launched Gone in 30 Seconds, a video contest looking for the best and most creative rant on the Conservative’s culture cuts.
Write a song, a film, a multimedia art piece…anything you like. Just make sure your voice is heard.
Plus Trinity Video, an the artist-run collective in Toronto is offering to help people put their pieces together. I am extremely impressed by how brilliant the Department of Culture movement are.
