WANT: Lance Armstrong’s one-of-a-kind helmet

When you win the Tour de France a record-breaking seven times, you get all kinds of nifty perks. Like a helmet custom designed by Shepard Fairey.

Lance Armstrong just tweeted a bunch of photos of his Fairey-ized Giro Ionos that he will be sporting in the Giro D’Italia. And it is, as they say, teh hotness:

I want one. Not just because of the cool factor, but because it totally matches my roadie. Also, it’s the same colours as my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.

the war on idiocy
Sometimes, the picture just makes the story

A man was recently arrested at LAX for attempting to smuggle eight rare songbirds into the USA. Not a big deal, right? I’m sure this kind of thing happens all the time.

Except for the fact that he chose to commit his crime in the most hilarious way possible:

birdsonlegs

Yes, demonstrating a near Monty Python level of ingenuity, he strapped the birds to his legs and attempted to walk out of the airport. Alas, his disguise was less than perfect:

Prosecutors say he had bird feathers and droppings on his socks, and birds’ tail feathers peeking out from under his pants.

Genius. You’ve got admire this guy for his commitment. It can’t be easy to build a bird harness for your legs, wear said harness on a Trans-Pacific flight, and then try to walk through customs. For him or the birds.

Sony Dong, I salute you. You may be an idiot, but your idiocy is spectacular to behold.

New Star Trek film decried as “Fun, Watchable”

Touche, Onion. Touche.

Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As ‘Fun, Watchable’

Point taken. Of course, I will still miss the long, boring scenes where they debate interstellar public policy.

UPDATE: Seems the Onion actually kinda hit the nail on the head.
