Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As ‘Fun, Watchable’
Point taken. Of course, I will still miss the long, boring scenes where they debate interstellar public policy.

I actually had this discussion this morning with Howie, regarding the “panties in a bunch” mentality of hardcore trekkies. I have seen every episode of every Star Trek franchise. A nerd, I know.
But, I want to go on record as saying that what is important about Star Trek is not technological, or even hardcore story continuity between time periods and imaginings. What is important, is being true to the original vision and philosophy the Roddenberry had in mind during the first two series. The messages of hope, cooperation, and a strong moral compass trumping all, is far more important to the series than pointing out that the tricorders on the first enterprise seemed better than those on the enterprise C.
Oh crap…I just entered a level of Nerddom that I usually steer clear of…oh well. This is worth posting about.
