ON the other hand... The Haitian rebellion he's talking about was when the slaves rose up and kicked out their French slave masters. This is actually a pretty cool thing in the history of the world. (Granted, Haiti's had a pretty touch time since then, partially because initially countries didn't want to deal with a country run by former slaves) So, in a weird way, he's saying that the independence of the slaves was caused by a deal with the devil.
