Columbia is not friends with Iran. Or more specifically, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not buddy-buddy with Columbia Pres Lee Bollinger. But are the rumors (first reported by Iran's Mehr news agency) that a delegation of scholars will visit Iran to apologize on behalf of the University true? Not according to Columbia:
"The university has no knowledge or information about the claims being made in the Iranian media.”
This makes sense, especially since Bollinger has forbidden Columbia scholars to visit Iran as official delegates of the university.
We may be dealing with a rebel faction here...keep your eyes on this space for more info as it comes in.
Thanks to AB for the heads up on this one.
