Arthur C. Clarke, 1917-2008

nuncscio_arthurc.jpg Arthur C. Clarke, Sci-fi writer, futurist and astronomer, has died. He was 90.

He was best known as the mind behind 2001: A Space Odyssey. But personally, I'll always remember him for Childhood's End. A damn good book. If you haven't yet, you should read it.

Clarke was also a committed futurist who predicted the rise of modern telecommunications and space tourism. He also never lost faith that mankind would fulfill its vast intellectual potential.

You will be missed, Mr. Clarke.
