Do us proud, America

Well, the big day has finally arrived. And brother, what a wacky ride its been. I hope Americans make the right choice today. I realize "right choice" is a little subjective. But for me, there has only ever been one right choice: Barack Obama. He's the best chance the United States have to reclaim a little of the spirit that makes America, well, America.

Look, we all love to dump on the USA. And a lot of the time- especially over the past eight years- it deserves it. Still, we need America. Or, perhaps more accurately, we need America to be America. If we're going to tackle climate change, achieve peace, and make the world a more humnan, livable place, we need the USA to lead the charge. If they don't, then it probably won't happen.

For me, Obama represents an America that can once more play a positive role in the world. He's intelligent, compassionate, and can inspire people to make positive change. While I respect John McCain for many reasons, he's not the guy for the job. And frankly, Sarah Palin is a disgrace. To women, to America, and to the basic ideals of reason and inquisitive thought.

So, do the right thing today, America. The choice you make will change your life, my life, and the lives of everyone on Earth. A lot of pressure, I know. But that's what you get when you live in a country magnificent in its dreams, awful in its contradictions, and immense in its potential.
